Mark Your Summer Calendar: Global Albariño Day is August 1—Fiesta de Albariño is August 2-6

Galician Bagpipes, All-Night Concerts and the Best Albariños of the Year

Ready for summer? So are we! Mark your summer calendar for the annual Fiesta de Albariño, August 2-6, a weeklong celebration in Cambados, the heart of the Rías Baixas wine region and home to the exceptional white wine, Albariño. Wine enthusiasts around the world celebrate Albariño Day every summer on August 1. The fiesta kicks off from there: over 150,000 people make the “camino” to Rías Baixas each year to honor the singular heritage, history, and flavors of Albariño.

FIESTA DE ALBARIÑO IN CAMBADOS (AUGUST 2-6)

Crisp and refreshing to taste with pronounced citrus, stone fruit, and floral aromas, Albariño wines offer a premium and authentic wine choice that reflects their coastal, Atlantic origins in northwest Galicia. If you’re lucky enough to make the trip to Cambados, the Fiesta de Albariño celebrates the vibrant sights, sounds and flavors of their homeland. The packed program is a feast for the senses and includes four solid days of tastings, culinary excellence, and music and dancing that starts early and ends late - from the original sound of Celtic bagpipes that recall the ancient traditions of the area to local rock and roll and roving street bands. The area’s proud winemakers and chefs serve up the latest wine and food pairings, sourced from the freshest ingredients available from the green hills and open seas of this celebrated gourmet destination.

RIAS BAIXAS ALBARIÑO IS MORE POPULAR THAN EVER

For American wine lovers, this year’s Fiesta de Albariño marks an incredible milestone: 2022 was the highest-performing year ever for Albariño wines in the U.S., the world’s #1 export market. Many of the wineries are multi-generational, family-owned ventures that put everything they have into every harvest (fun fact: over half of the region’s winemakers are women). Quality is at an all-time high, and Rías Baixas Albariño wines are favorite selections of sommeliers, who consider them to be on par with the best of France, New Zealand, and Austria. Click here for the full press release.
